The Kentucky Chapter American Public Works Association (APWA) has selected Qk4’s work with the Parklands of Floyds Fork, Phase 3A for the 2013 APWA Outstanding Achievement Award in the Parks category. Qk4’s project was selected over numerous entries for the recognition.
The award was presented at the APWA Chapter Awards Luncheon on Thursday, September 26, 2013, at the Crown Plaza/Campbell House Inn in Lexington, Kentucky.
The ambitious project, which was funded through public and private funds, will ultimately create a world-class park system including 100 miles of trails that will encircle Metro Louisville. Qk4 coordinated with other design team members to provide surveying, and civil and structural engineering services for Phase 3 design of the Parklands for 21st Century Parks, the non-profit corporation created to develop and preserve the new public parklands.
Qk4 prepared all construction documents to meet KYTC Office of Local Programs Grant requirements; and provided design for the following major park amenities:
Park Road (asphalt): 2.9 miles
Louisville Loop Trail (asphalt and concrete): 5.2 miles
